Quote of the Day--Noemie Emery

Noemie Emery in The Weekly Standard (ht Insty) ends an article discussing the implosion of the liberal Hollywood elite and the Nobel Committee through their own blatant hypocrisies with the following:

"If there were a Nobel Prize for shark-jumping, these people would share it: They have proved themselves more inane than their critics imagined. With friends such as these, the left hardly needs enemies. And with enemies such as these, the right may not really need friends."

Read the whole article. It's worth the time.

Howdy MC-

I have to disagree with you and the article's author. The Lettermans and Polanskis and Nobel committees of the world only lose face amongst those who have a sense of something called "shame", and the majority of the Left has no such sense. Letterman will lose none of his moral authority with them, for instance, because he's David Letterman, and therefore anything he does is sanctified.

Those of us who HAVE shame will never really understand those who don't, and vice versa.

Hey there! Excellent point. I think though, she was trying to say that the rest of the world is starting to see that the Lettermans, etc. really are morally bankrupt. He might not lose his moral authority amonst his peers, but now the rest of the crowd is starting to see that the emperor has no clothes.

That's probably true, but I won't believe it until I see it really have an effect. :)

I'm hoping that when real folks start realizing how they've been manipulated all of this time, that it'll lessen the influence of celebrities on various issues. I can dream, can't I???
