There is an old saying....

Nicki over at Liberty Zone points out the twittering of females regarding some gun-running murderous thug, who happens to have high cheekbones and blue eyes.  These twatwaffles (a term I'm adding to my lexicon, thanks Nicki!) are oohing and aaahing and are actually, publicly, making statements such as "he could rape me anytime" (if one is willing, is it rape, really--can't rape the willing, as the old saying goes?).

The term rape has become a watchword of the feminists.  It is used to demonize men on college campuses.  It has become conflated with the definition of an assignation that maybe in the morning you wish you didn't have.

Rape, real rape, is an ugly thing.  It is not something from an erotic novel where the handsome older man or young rogue ties you down and has his way with you.  Real rape is without consent, without power, without being willing.  There is no gentleness, no softening, no happy ending.  It is the essence of asserting power over someone using violence or trickery.  It is predatory deviance.   It is someone using your body without your permission in the most violent and intimate way imaginable.

These twittering little fluff balls would be the first to cry 'rape' should some stranger, handsome or not, grab their ass, look at them funny, or say something harsh to them.   They would be the first to cry victim.  But yet they probably also think of themselves as feminists or strong women.  They aren't even honest enough with themselves to say 'Hey, I'd bed him, even if he is a gunrunning murderous thug.' No, he'd have to 'rape' them and they are under the illusion that they'd like it because he has good cheekbones.  Wonder what they would tweet if he actually tracked some of them down and made their words a reality?

I would have just left food

Last night in Chicago an 18 year old male (why are they teens when they do something stupid and men when they do something illegal?) climbed a power tower, got 180 feet up, and then freaked and froze.  Took a bunch of firemen a couple hours to 'rescue' this miscreant whom they ended up trussing up and lowering to the ground.

Way I figure it, they could have either thrown a bungee cord up to him and let him get down quickly or left a Happy Meal at the bottom of the tower.  Just like a cat, he'll find a way down when he gets hungry enough.

Yeah, most of my weeks are like this.....

...without the greasepaint makeup (okay, one woman really wears that much).  Unfortunately I don't get to beat the crap out of them though.

Snakes (and not in a plane)

So it seems that every time Old NFO travels Down Under, that it is some sort of deadly snake season and they seem to lurk, awaiting unwary tourists.  Murphy's Law goes hiking out West and what does he find...  a snake.  I seem to recall that some time ago Chas had an unpleasant encounter with a baby rattler and was in the hospital for a couple of days.  I used to want to see Australia and check out some caves and hike in the Southwestern US, but after these revelations, maybe not so much...

Pretty sure Indiana Jones put it best.....

Trivia--Race Bannon history

Okay, dating myself on this one, but Jonny Quest was a fav cartoon when I was younger.  My understanding is that Brigid has a fondness for all things Race Bannon.  Here's a bit of history I found while surfing youtube....

Nailing it...

Putting up some trim in the kitchen so we need a brad nailer.

Me:  I just want to know who Brad is and who exactly he's been nailing.

Mr B:  I heard that Brad the Nailer is actually Vlad the Impaler's second cousin.....

Equality under the Law

Without equality under the law, we have tyranny.

When laws have become too convoluted or when they are not administered to all people at all times in the same way, we have tyranny.

When anyone, can be chosen to not be prosecuted where others are, based solely on their 'status' or their connections, we have tyranny.

When the President of the United States, who, by virtue of the position, should be the first person to follow the laws that are signed by either himself or his predecessor, breaks laws willfully and without fear of reprisal, we have tyranny.

Everybody has a right to be a sucker once, but the people of the United States are being played daily/hourly.  How do we make it stop?

I've been reading blogposts about the storming of Normandy.  You can read some of them here, here, here.  Some posit that this could not have been done, were it done today.  Unfortunately they might be right.  But not because the will is not there.

It's because those who are supposed to lead have lost their hearts, their will, their direction.  Form triumphs over function.  Good sense is beaten down and replaced with PC.  True leaders, being threats to those less capable are backbitten and die the death of a thousand papercuts or are paraded through the streets like the ancient Celts in Rome.

But the will of the people is there.  I'm not sure how to bring this country back to where we celebrate greatness, will, success.  But I think the tide is turning.  I hope it is because there are still enough of us who remember, who keep that ember burning.

Changing attitude...

And how better with being able to help out a friend doing something that I truly enjoy--it'll be a nice break from the usual?...

I'll also be listening to.....

How can you go wrong with a singing Marlon Brando?

For a movie considered to be kind of family and fun, this song has some of the dirtiest lyrics I've heard.....

High school and those who never leave.....

Why the hell can't some people just get the fuck over being in high school and having to start shit where none should exist??  Between a FaceBlog thing last night and stuff going on at work, I'm so done.  I don't get Class Consciousness and I don't get the gleeful mean-ness of people who just want to feel important by carrying vastly inflated tales.  There is enough bad stuff out there so why do some folks feel the need to gratify their own egos by playing games they should have gotten over in junior high?

Impeachable offenses

How many impeachable offenses does a guy have to rack up before he actually gets, you know, impeached? obama has been collecting thses like folks used to collect S&H Green Stamps, but yet nothing has happened in our checks and balances system to check his power trip and create some balance.

He is willing to trade five taliban heavy hitters for one deserter, thus trying to close Guantanamo one deal at a time (blowing decades of policy about not negotiating with terrorists also) but he is willing to leave a Marine in a Mexican jail without a murmer.  How about trading some of the illegals in American jails for our Marine?  Oh wait, Mexico does not want their detritus back, so no joy on that......

Nice to know that some things are universal

Mr B had a video a while back of a police officer doing a 'firearm safety lecture' complete with accidental discharge.  Tam linked to this article from China that hit the net a few days ago wherein a Chinese police officer did essentially the same thing.  'Professionals' are professional the world over....    I thought it was interesting that they tried to excuse the Chinese AD by saying that Chinese policeman aren't familiar with firearms....  Then why on earth are they carrying them??

Just for kicks and grins because it makes me laugh and cringe all at the same time:
