Reeking of desperation.....

.... or this just reeks.  One public school employee union in Michigan is strong-arming its members to hand over credit card and bank account information to force dues out of them since the state is no longer acting as the enforcement arm of the union.  To me, this just says that the unions are losing members when dues payments are voluntary, which says something about the unions--and it's nothing good.  The head of the union is also claiming that the turning over of this private information is a "requirement for continued employment in the school district".  I'm of the mind that the union is mis-stating or is overreaching by saying that since private information is, well, private.  It's the Obamacare way of thinking--we'll force a private person to pay for something they don't want to have.

The house of cards is not only falling, it's catching on fire as it goes.

A lesson that I learned from my very Republican mother when she was teaching school -- and fuming about mandatory deductions for the Colorado Education Association.

Chas--I'm still not sure how employers and the state became the enforcement arms of the unions via the collection of dues. I'm glad to see that it's being reversed though.
