The Compromise that Really wasn't
So in much-ballyhoo'ed news, the White House said that contraception and sterilization procedures wouldn't have to be 'explicitly' paid for by Catholic hospitals and universities, but would be offered by insurance companies directly to female employees of those institutions. But who would be paying the insurance companies?? Because sure as anything, they wouldn't be eating the cost of this "free" service to women. I'm still not understanding why people are still saying it's free, either. TANSTAAFL. And this was, as with most things coming out of the White House, a 'compromise' that wasn't. I'm glad the Bishops didn't fall for it.
