Hypocrisy, Thy Name is Government or Pot, Meet Kettle

I've had a couple of WTF?!? moments this morning, mainly caused by the behavior of our elected officials. We have Barney Frank of "Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are having no problems" fame, Chris "Countrywide Mortage" Dodd, Charlie "Multiple Rent Controlled Residences" Rangel, and Tim "Everyone but Me has to Pay Taxes" Geithner. It would almost be comedic if these weren't the folks that are running the show right now.

I saw Barney Frank on the news yesterday berating that poor schmoe Liddy who offered, for $1, to get AIG back on track. The same Barney Frank who constantly defended Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The same Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac whose executives are now also getting massive bonuses.

Then we have Chris Dodd, who now admits to putting in that little sentence that allowed the AIG folks to receive millions of taxpayers' dollars in bonuses. After lying about it for close to a week.

And when I saw a few weeks ago, Tim Geithner say to Charlie Rangel (both of whom have had, and in the case of Rangel, continue to have problems actually paying their taxes) that Geithner was going to make more rules to crack down on tax cheats, I thought I was watching a Saturday Night Live skit. How can ANYONE be so completely brazen??

Our elected REPRESENTATIVES are no longer representing us. They are treating the American public, especially those in the Heartlands, like serfs or peons. They make rules and then don't abide by them. They talk ethics and morals but don't adhere to them.

The only thing that gives me hope for this country is that there are so many others who are noticing and who are talking and who are taking whatever actions they can. With the internet, free speech is still truly free.
